In 1984, our Gallery Director began a home furnishings career at The Baker Furniture Company's famed "Plant One" in Holland, Michigan, unloading mahogany boards from railroad cars and placing them into the massive drying kiln. Over the next eight years with the company, eventually being transferred to Boston to build and manage the current Baker Knapp & Tubbs showroom, a deep affinity for the style and craftsmanship of Baker Furniture developed.
In 2012 MassModern presented a full exhibit devoted to the modern designs of Baker Furniture. Items represented included the following:
