Brian Palmer continues to be one of America's most prolific furniture designers, earning a "Pinnacle" Award as recently as 2004 for exceptional new product design. Early in his career, Palmer designed extensive residential and executive office collections for Baker Furniture, of Grand Rapids. These collections are sleek and richly finished, with birdseye maple veneers over maple solids. The polished nickel carried throughout is particularly attractive. The residential collection was introduced in the mid 1970's as the "Baker Modern Collection."
MassModern is proud to have handled more than 20 items from the "Brian Palmer for Baker" collections. Check our "Current Collection" page for currently available pieces.

Update
When the "Architect Modern" exhibit was first presented by MassModern Gallery in Spring 2008, we included Brian Palmer's design work for Baker Furniture, under incorrect information that Mr. Palmer had been trained as an architect. We're particulary fond of Brian Palmer's work for Baker across several related collections, and have moved his work to the "Baker Modern" category, where it best belongs.
Some time after that show had closed, we were able to ask him about this. Brian Palmer was kind enough to offer some additonal information with us as well. We'll share that information sometime after our "Baker Modern" exhibit.
